Cass Bird

Born in 1974 and raised in Los Angeles, Cass Bird graduated from Smith College before moving to New York. Her images are recognizable by their youthful and carefree spirit. The New York Times Magazine writes that “her subjects always look too mischievous, and like they are having just a little too much fun… Bird consistently manages to get the people she shoots to let their guard down.” Bird has said, “I don’t think of myself as a ‘fashion person.’ I think my interest was always about people, and it still is that. The obsession with seeing someone and letting them see you, that moment is pretty profound.” She has photographed for The New York Times Style Magazine, GQ, New York Magazine, Dazed and Confused, i-D, The New Yorker, MUSE, Twin, Dossier, French Elle, and American and British Vogue.
